Network Ireland Limerick hosted a ‘Pitching for Success’ workshop for its members in House, Limerick last week in association with LEO Limerick. Over 40 women in business, the professions and the arts attended the morning event which focused on how to pitch to new investors, prospective clients and award judges.
While focused on developing the perfect pitch to grow an organisation, the workshop was also designed to prepare members for the Network Ireland Limerick Regional Businesswomen of the Year Awards which will take place on Thursday 23 May at No. 1 Pery Square.
Patrick O’Sullivan, Sales Dynamics kicked off the workshop explaining the key stages to developing the perfect pitch and giving lots of tips on how to develop a value proposition.
“Know your audience and pitch the pain points you are solving and the benefits of working with you. If you target everyone and focus on just the product or service you are selling, you will get no-one,” said Mr O’Sullivan.
He was followed by Caroline Dunlea, Core Optimisation, who spoke about her experience of winning at both the Network Ireland Limerick Regional Awards as well as the Network Ireland National Awards last September.
Ms Dunlea said, “I would highly recommend going through the process of applying for an award. It gives you an opportunity to stand back from your business and assess what you have achieved. Since winning the awards we can see how it has reinforced a client’s decision to use us - it has definitely helped with sales.”
Catriona O’Donoghue, President of Network Ireland Limerick, said “This practical workshop was about giving members the tools to grow their business and to encourage them to step up and put themselves forward for awards. Unfortunately, many women can be slow to put themselves forward. We were delighted to be joined by Caroline Dunlea who, as a past national award winner, was able to reinforce the message that there are no downsides to putting yourself forward for awards.”
The Network Ireland Limerick Regional Businesswoman of the Year Awards celebrate the excellence, professionalism, vision and leadership of its members. Regional branch winners will be put forward to compete at the Network Ireland National Business Awards taking place in September in Cork.
