Limerick Sports Partnership is delighted to announce the launch of five new FitSticks Activator Walking Trails across Limerick, providing local communities with a new and accessible way to improve their health, wellbeing and physical activity. FitSticks Trails are suitable for both Activator and Nordic Walking.

Limerick City and County Council is reminding families across the city and county that Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 takes place this Saturday, 06 June, with over 30 free events planned for children and young people.

Limerick City and County Council has announced revised opening hours and gate fees for its Civic Amenity Sites, taking effect from Tuesday, 2 June 2026. The changes are designed to provide greater flexibility for the public, including later evening access to recycling facilities outside of standard business hours.

Families have been handed the keys to new homes following the delivery of a new social housing development by Limerick City and County Council. Funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage through the Social Housing Investment Programme (SHIP), the new homes are located on Clare Street, on a prominent corner site at the Dublin Road entrance to the city.

Film in Limerick, operated by Limerick City and County Council is delighted to support production on the second season of The Wayfinders, a fantasy drama TV series now filming across Limerick and the wider Mid-West region. Filming has wrapped in Newcastle West where the production was on location this month. Produced by Limerick-based Dark Day Pictures in partnership with US production company Arrowstorm, The Wayfinders series represents another significant international production for the region. 

Limerick City and County Council has welcomed the selection of the THRIVE Fireplace Site Project as one of six Irish case studies for “Unlocking Compact Cities”, a research initiative led by the URBACT Programme. The study is being undertaken in the context of the upcoming Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
