Commenting on the launch of Tuscany To Go, Owner, Sabrina Amodeo said: “So much of our business is driven by our customers and we’re grateful that our growth has been so organic and determined by customer demand. Many of the dishes for our new outlet will have a more healthful and nutritional value to cater for the more health conscious consumers including those attending and visiting the hospital next door.”

As well as importing the finest Italian and Mediterranean ingredients, as much as possible Tuscany Bistro’s menus also showcase award-winning products from top local producers. These include freshly baked ciabatta from Limerick-based artisan bakery, Our Daily Bread, buffalo mozzarella from Toons Bridge Dairy in Macroom, Co. Cork, goat’s cheese sourced from St. Tola, in Ennistymon, Co. Clare, Cashel Blue cheese from Co. Tipperary, and salad leaves from New Leaf Urban Farmers, in Ballyneety, Co. Limerick.

As you’d expect from a quality authentic Italian restaurant, many of the dishes on the menu use family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, making Tuscany’s offering truly unique. Owner Sabrina Amodeo’s Italian mother, Mamma Maria Gennaro, visits each year from her home in Treviso, Northern Italy, to spend time in Tuscany’s kitchens, working closely with the chefs to ensure the authenticity of their dishes. Special little touches like slow cooking the ragu for their bolognese for hours and then adding a touch of milk towards the end to add a touch of sweetness. And the use of a vital secret ingredient (that will remain so) that originates from owner Sabrina Amodeo’s Italian great-grandmother that gives their Patate Gratinate its distinctive moreish flavour.

The Tuscany Bistro brand was born in 2003 having been founded by successful South African entrepreneur, Sabrina, with the help and support of her mother. They launched the first of their restaurants in Castletroy, Limerick, followed a few years later (in 2012) by a second site in Ballina on the beautiful shores of Lough Derg. Sabrina’s drive and passion for delicious food is evident, not only in her two popular eateries and their style of hospitality, but also in the development of Tuscany Bistro’s own range of Blas na hEireann award-winning Amodeo salad dressings.

Since its inception, Tuscany Bistro’s growth has been very much driven by consumer demand and listening carefully to exactly what it is their customers want from a family friendly neighbourhood Italian restaurant. A key factor in the success of the business and in overcoming the adversity that the Covid-19 pandemic brought about has been the adaptability, creativity and constant innovation of Tuscany’s passionate team. During lockdown last year the launch of its range of Tuscany At Home DIY Kits, including main courses, desserts and cocktails, proved pivotal in enabling the restaurant group to keep many of its staff in full-time employment throughout the pandemic. The opening of the new 1,000 sq ft premises in Dooradoyle, located within a stone’s throw of University Hospital Limerick, will see the creation of seven new full-time jobs.

The Dooradoyle outlet will open for takeout five days a week, Tuesday to Thursday, 12pm - 8pm, and Friday & Saturday 12pm - 9pm, catering to local businesses during daytime hours and local residents for takeaway in the evenings.

Orders for collection can be placed online at www.tuscany.ie or by calling (061) 468000.
