Limerick has a world-class education offering, from excellent nurseries, primary and post primary schools to outstanding third level options.

Early Days - Limerick has an excellent choice of crèche, pre-school and Montessori facilities catering for babies and toddlers. Established in 2014 the Limerick Childcare Committee is the central point of information for childcare providers and parents in Limerick City on all matters relating to Early Years Care and Information.

Schools - Limerick has some of the country’s leading secondary schools, with the all-girls Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ ranking the top post primary school in Ireland year on year.  Limerick city has an excellent choice of both primary and secondary schools, with a total of 33 primary schools and 15 secondary schools in the city alone. There are a further 107 primary schools and 17 post primary schools in Limerick County.

Third Level – With three third level institutions - University of Limerick (UL), Technological University of the Shannon Midlands Midwest (TUS) and Mary Immaculate College - Limerick’s annual graduate supply amounts to 6,000 students. Together, the third level institutions have a combined student cohort of 24,000. Extend the catchment to that 90minute radius of Limerick and student numbers reach 100,000.

A strong history of industry collaboration deepens the third-level contribution in the region. This happens at both undergraduate and post-graduate level, with research and knowledge transfer across Limerick’s institutions happening at a consistently high level.  Students of STEM subjects account for 1/3 of graduates from UL and TUS.
