Limerick City and County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from community groups intending to promote Christmas gatherings within their communities during the festive period. This initiative aims to supplement the cost of festive activities and ensure a vibrant and inclusive Christmas experience across Limerick.
The Mayor invites proposals from community groups who are interested in arranging community events to celebrate Christmas. The funding may be used to fund items such as; Christmas trees, entertainment, temporary festive structures, Christmas-themed installations, Christmas displays, Christmas lighting or pop-up festive photo spots.
A total of €20,000 has been allocated to this initiative through the Mayoral Fund. Funding awards will be determined on a competitive basis. In the event of oversubscription, applicants may receive a partial award rather than the full sum requested.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from:
- Local voluntary organisations
- Neighbourhood committees and residents’ associations
- Sports clubs and youth groups
- Cultural and arts organisations
- Charities
Key Considerations:
- Events should enhance local Christmas celebrations and should be inclusive for all members of the community.
- Funding is for community-led initiatives only, for profit business applications will not be considered.
- Installation of festive displays must comply with health and safety regulations.
- Providers may require valid insurance coverage.
- Proposals should include all necessary equipment and associated costs.
- Funding may be provided under two strands
- Strand 1 – Small scale Christmas-themed events up to €1,000
- Strand 2 – Large scale Christmas-themed events up to €5,000
Submission Requirements:
Interested parties should submit an Expression of Interest (max. 2 pages) including:
- An overview of the proposed event.
- Proposed dates for the event to be run or for displays to be erected and removed.
- Confirmation that if insurance coverage is required by the Council, it will be provided as a condition to receiving any funding.
- Total cost for delivering the proposed event.
