As Mayor of Limerick, I am pleased to confirm the signing of a number of new Mayoral Orders this week that each mark real steps forward for communities across the city and county in the areas of recreation, housing and public lighting.

I’m pleased to have engaged in a constructive and positive meeting with Minister of State at the Department of Health, Jennifer Murnane O’ Connor TD, in my offices in Limerick this week.

In June 2025, the Mayor wrote to Minister Cummins in view of stated governance concerns he had arising from councillors serving on DAC boards at variance to state body practices and OECD and other guidance.

I welcome the statement by the Minister that Government support has been secured to progress all options outlined in the HIQA report.

I welcome the arrival of the long-awaited report as it clearly sets out the urgency of the situation in the Midwest.

I am looking forward to leading a focused investment delegation to New York this week.

I am pleased to confirm that Limerick City and County Council, supported by a significant multi-million euro commitment from my discretionary Mayoral Fund, has begun a formal process to purchase a significant site in Patrickswell. 

I am thrilled to hear that Irish Rail has formally lodged a planning application to build a new train station in Moyross. People said our idea was a pipe dream when we proposed it a decade ago. But thanks to a broad coalition led by the community, it is now taking steps to becoming a reality.

The announcement of the Land Development Agency (LDA) submitting a planning application for what is known locally as the old ‘Gasworks site’ on the Dock Road is more welcome news. My thanks to John Coleman and his team and colleagues at Limerick City and County Council driving this forward.
