Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce a competitive Night Time Economy open call, inviting proposals to help shape and enhance the Riverfest 2026 programme.
Riverfest puts Limerick centre stage every May Bank Holiday weekend, attracting over 140,000 people, with 67,000 visitors engaging in the festival village across four unforgettable days of fun, food, and music along the banks of the River Shannon.
We welcome imaginative, high-quality proposals from cultural institutions, creative professionals, community groups, and event organisers that celebrate Limerick’s unique culture, creativity, and vibrant festival atmosphere.
Open call
Limerick City and County Council's Night Time Economy unit welcomes proposals from cultural institutions, creative professionals and the wider community to enhance the programme offering for Riverfest 2026 between the hours of 6-10pm. Programming should be family friendly but not of a musical nature. Proposals can be for one larger event or a series of smaller events between the above mentioned days and times. This is an open competitive process in which significant weighting will be given to the scope and quality of proposals.
Proposals should:
- Enhance Riverfest's core programme of events.
- Promote Limerick’s unique culture and celebrate its position on the River Shannon.
- To cement Limerick's burgeoning reputation as a destination city with a vibrant urban culture on Europe’s Edge and as Gateway City to the Wild Atlantic Way.
- To establish Limerick as a centre of creative excellence, showcasing the work of our local and national creatives alongside international artists.
