James Street Artists' Studios

The James Street Artists’ Studios is an affordable space for individuals to make work and allow artists to continue to live and work in Limerick, by encouraging working within the urban context.

This is a complex of eight arts studios based in James’ Street. They are an affordable space for individuals to make work and allow artists to continue to live and work in Limerick, by encouraging working within the urban context. This scheme is in line with the Limerick Cultural Strategy Aim and Objective 1: To grow Limerick’s cultural capacity by retaining and attracting creative practitioners to live and work in Limerick. Public open calls are issued as opportunities arise.

The James’ Street Artists’ Studios are supported by the Limerick Culture and Arts Department, Limerick City and County Council.

Richard Anglim
Richard Anglim is a Limerick based artist. His current work is based on the study of Becoming and Being.

Julie Brazil
Julie Brazil is an artist from New Ross, County Wexford and is currently based in Limerick city. She graduated from Crawford College of Art and Design with a BA in Fine Art Painting. Jim Furlong

Jim was born in Worthing, Sussex, England. He graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with a 1st class B.A. Honours Degree. He works predominantly in charcoal on canvas. His work explores male alienation in contemporary society. Jim is an evening class art tutor and part time resource art teacher at Limerick College of Further Education. Gavin Hogg

Gavin Hogg has been a practicing artist for 30 years. He has exhibited widely and won numerous awards and achieved wide critical appreciation for his work. Lorrayne Murphy
Lorrayne Murphy was born in Limerick. She studied Fine Art at the Limerick School of Art and Design. She received her Masters Degree in Fine Art at the University of Ulster. Based in Limerick Artist’s studios, she was one of the founding members of 'All plus ten sorts Studios'. She has work in many public and private collections including the OPW, Arts Council of Ireland, Limerick City and County Council permanent collection, Cesis Museum Latvia and Alytus TV Lithuania. She has received many awards including Aughinish Alumina Award, San Francisco Academy Award and Italian government scholarship. She has received many Arts Council awards including the Limerick City and County Council regional bursary at Annaghmakerrig and millennium commission. In 1991 she was awarded the gold medal representing Ireland at the 9th International Plein Air painting symposium in Cesis, Latvia  and in 1995 represented Ireland in Nemunaitis 95 in Lithuania. Lorrayne has exhibited widely both in Ireland and abroad with solo shows and group exhibitions. She is presently working on an exhibition for New York and Latvia.

Gerry O’Mahony
Gerry O’Mahony, a graduate of LSAD Limerick, has lived in Ireland, Israel and Malawi. On returning to Ireland he became a member of one of Limerick’s first artist collectives (All + 10 sorts) and exhibited frequently with the group. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally and his work is part of private and public collections in Ireland and abroad, including Limerick County and City Councils, Government buildings, Dublin, and Berlay Mont Buildings, Brussels. He currently lives in County Clare and was a member of Contact Studios, Limerick, 2005 to 2017 and his most recent solo show was in the City and County Museum, Henry St., Limerick, in March 2020, entitled 'Gathering Threads.'. www.gerryomahony.com
