The Baggot Estate Active Travel Scheme is a project being delivered by Limerick City & County Council. It is being funded by the National Transport Authority.
The works are intended to improve pedestrian and cycle linkage between the Ballinacurra Road and Rosbrien Road, going through the Baggot Estate Nature Park. It is intended to enhance the attractiveness of short walking and cycling trips for those living local area.
The Scheme would help expand the overall network of the West side of the city, connecting to the South Circular Road Scheme (when built) and on to the city centre.
It would also enable connections towards the Childers Road Active Travel Scheme and to the East of the city.
At present, there are a number of options being assessed for the project.
These options were presented to members of the public via a non-statutory public consultation process in September 2023.
A full report on this consultation can be viewed at this link.
A Part 8 planning application is anticipated to be lodged and advertised at a later date.
Councillors will then vote on whether to proceed with the planned project, to proceed with the project with amendments, or not to proceed with the project.
