Heading into the new academic year, Limerick City and County Council is inviting new and returning students to explore, connect and experience the best of Limerick city and county through the return of the popular Welcome to Limerick campaign as part of the Limerick Student City initiative.
From food, festivals and live music to comedy, culture, shopping, sport, nightlife and hidden gems, Limerick Student City showcases every aspect of student life, beyond the campus.
Throughout Orientation and Freshers' Week, the Limerick Student City team will be engaging directly with students while promoting the Limerick Student City Pocket Map and Guide, available both online and in print. The guide serves as a handy resource for students, highlighting popular hotspots, affordable dining options, local attractions, transport links and a range of useful services to help them make the most of their time in Limerick.
Students can also take advantage of more than 50 Limerick Student City Discounts and Deals across retail, food, entertainment and travel, all available through the Limerick Student City section on the Limerick.ie website.
Throughout the academic year, the Limerick.ie digital channels will keep students connected to the best of what Limerick Student City has to offer. Students are encouraged to check out Limerick.ie/study and to follow TikTok, Instagram and Facebook for a regular stream of affordable events, hidden gems, competitions, things to do and the latest updates from Limerick’s vibrant social and cultural scene.

The return of Limerick Student City is about highlighting everything that makes studying here such a rewarding experience, both on and off campus. September Calling
For students arriving in Limerick this month, there’s no shortage of reasons to take a study break and discover what’s happening beyond the college gates.
The brand-new Linger, Limerick's Festival of Food, Heritage and Place, taking place from 11–13 September, will celebrate the people, produce, stories and places that make Limerick unique.
Then, on 18 September Culture Night will open the doors of Limerick’s galleries, museums, cultural spaces and creative venues, with a packed programme of free events across the city and county.
And the month finishes on a high with the Limerick Jazz Festival running from 23–27 September, alongside the Limerick Comedy Festival, from 24–27 September.
For students looking for their new favourite band, a great feed, a night of laughs, or simply somewhere new to hang out with friends, September is the perfect introduction to Limerick life.
Student Nights
A returning feature of this year’s campaign is Twilight Thursdays, Limerick’s monthly celebration of the city after dark. Taking place on the last Thursday of every month, Twilight Thursdays brings together live music, food experiences, cultural events, entertainment and special offers across the city, giving students another reason to make Thursday night a night out.
And getting home safely doesn’t have to break the bank either, with 40% off taxi fares available as part of Twilight Thursdays, helping students and others enjoy the evening while making their way home safely and affordably.
Go Beyond the Campus
Limerick Student City is delivered by Limerick City and County Council in partnership with University of Limerick, Technological University of the Shannon, Mary Immaculate College and Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.
The Welcome to Limerick campaign aims to showcase the very best of student life in Limerick - from the quality and diversity of its Tertiary level education to the experiences, opportunities, culture and community that exist beyond the lecture hall.
