St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Kilfinane: Architecture and History

The foundation stone for St. Andrew's Catholic Church was laid by Dr. George Butler, Bishop of Limerick, on 6th July 1879 and it was officially opened in 1889.
 

The building project was spearheaded by Father Patrick Lee Parish Priest of Kilfinane 1879-1892. The Church was designed by George Coppinger Ashlin (1837-1921) who also designed St. Colman's Cathedral in Cobh.

The event on 22nd August will include presentations on the following topics:

  • The Architecture of the church
  • The Lee family and Kilfinane
  • Stories from the stained glass windows of St. Andrew's Church
