Today marks another step towards a new future for Limerick City. These two plans constitute one shared vision: a harmonised, fit-for-purpose public transport network that works for the people of Limerick, alongside a public realm that allows our streets and civic spaces to breathe and thrive.
For too long, our city centre has carried the legacy of a layout designed for a different era. By identifying better ways to traverse the city, we can free up space to unlock more people-focused places – enhancing the everyday experiences for those living, working, and visiting Limerick.
This is about creating a city centre that matches our ambition. I would encourage the public, businesses, community groups, and all stakeholders to engage fully with this consultation, so that together we can get this right for Limerick, now and for generations to come.
