Road Improvements & Major Schemes

  • Adare Transport Plan

    Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce the commencement of a comprehensive Transport Plan for Adare.
  • Coonagh to Knockalisheen Distributor Road

    Limerick City and County Council announced the official signing of the €31 million construction contract with Wills Brothers Ltd for the Coonagh to Knockalisheen Distributor Road Scheme in January 2025.
  • Foynes to Limerick Road (including Adare Bypass)

    An Bord Pleanála approved the Foynes to Limerick Road (including Adare Bypass) on 30th August 2022.
  • Limerick City Centre Transport Plan

    Limerick City and County Council, in partnership with the National Transport Authority and Jacobs Consultants, have commenced the development of a new Limerick City Centre Transport Plan, as mandated by Objective TR 046 of the Limerick Development Plan 2022-2028.
  • Limerick to Patrickswell Cycle Route Scheme

    The Scheme is located on the R526 Regional Road between Limerick and Patrickswell, County Limerick. This section of the R526 was formerly the N20 National Primary Road but was bypassed by the construction of the M20 Motorway.
  • Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF)

    The Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF) is a key element of Housing for All to unlock sites to deliver 1,900 housing units.
  • N/M20 Cork to Limerick Scheme

    The N/M20 Cork to Limerick Scheme is a key element in Project Ireland 2040, the Government’s long-term overarching strategy to make Ireland a better country for all of its people.
  • N21 Abbeyfeale Road Scheme

    Limerick City and County Council is working in partnership with Kerry County Council, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the Department of Transport to develop a scheme to relieve congestion on the N21 Limerick to Tralee Road through Abbeyfeale.
  • N21 Abbeyfeale to Mount Mahon Pavement Improvement Scheme

    The proposed scheme consists of a pavement inlay and construction of footpaths located on the N21 national primary road which is on a section between Abbeyfeale and Mount Mahon.
  • N21 Newcastle West Road Scheme

    Limerick City and County Council is working in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the Department of Transport to develop a scheme to relieve congestion on the N21 Limerick to Tralee Road through Newcastle West.
  • N24 Cahir to Limerick Junction

    Tipperary County Council in conjunction with Limerick City and County Council, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport are progressing the development of the N24 Cahir to Limerick Junction Project.
  • N69 Court Cross Road Improvement Scheme

    The N69 Court Cross Scheme is being progressed as a road safety improvement scheme.
