Limerick is abuzz for the final days of summer, with a packed calendar of music, culture, family fun and free outdoor events right across the city and county.  

 

From blockbuster gigs on the river to Heritage Week adventures, community street parties, county shows and an Xtreme funfair — there’s still loads to entertain and delight before the kids head back-to-school.

City Centre Summer: 

August in the City is transforming quays and parks with yoga, interactive dance, movie nights, busking and street performers. Many events are free and family friendly so keep an eye on the rotating programme on Limerick.ie.  

An Xtreme Funfair has also landed at Arthur’s Quay Park (16 – 24 Aug) and a Classic Car Showcase rolls into Honan’s Quay this Sunday (17 Aug).

Limerick continues to grow its reputation as a live music hotspot adding to the vibrant energy and a sense of excitement that’s hard to miss, even if you didn’t snag a ticket.

Don’t miss the sunset vibes and festival energy on Limerick’s iconic docks.  

Féile na Gréine, the annual music festival in the heart of Limerick city celebrates emerging and experimental music this weekend (15-17 Aug). 

The Big Day Out brings a full-on throwback party to TUS Gaelic Grounds (Sat 23 Aug, from 3pm) — a huge, open-air celebration to keep summer blazing.  

UB40 featuring Ali Campbell play an Irish-exclusive outdoor show at TUS Gaelic Grounds (Sun 24 Aug, 3:30pm) with special guests — a perfect Summer Sunday soundtrack.

National Heritage Week in Limerick (16–24 Aug) 

Step into Limerick’s natural, built and cultural heritage with free, family-friendly talks and storytelling in our communities and across our landmark sites — including King John’s Castle, Lough Gur and Adare Heritage Centre — with special “Shaped by Water” sessions during the week. County Showstoppers: 

The Cappamore Show 2025  - Thousands of people will descend on the classic county day out this Saturday (16 Aug) with livestock, crafts, competitions and entertainment for all ages.  

The Limerick Show 2025 takes centre stage the following Saturday (24 Aug) at Limerick Racecourse with agriculture, food, family fun and a full programme on the day.  

Culture Hub:  

At the Hunt Museum, the acclaimed exhibition From ‘Dickie To Richard’ – Richard Harris: Role Of A Lifetime offers a compelling look at the legendary actor’s life and career. 

Art lovers can look forward to EVA International, launching on 29th August, which will transform venues across the city into vibrant showcases of contemporary creativity. 

Get Active & Explore Outdoors: 

Explore Limerick on Foot to discover great tracks and trails across the county. Paddle through history with Kayaking at Lough Gur or embrace the unexpected along the scenic  Limerick Greenway

Twilight Thursdays: 

As summer winds down, Twilight Thursdays returns on 28th August, bringing late-night shopping, live music, and street performances to the heart of the city.
