Temporary Closure of Roads: Barrington Street, Limerick City

Limerick City and County Council wishes to advise motorists, residents, businesses and road users that a temporary road closure will be in place on Barrington Street, Limerick City, to facilitate a crane lift. The closure will affect Barrington Street (L-10381-1) and Pery Square (L-10377-1). Barrington Street will be closed from its junction with The Crescent (R-526-8) and Quinlan Street (R-526-7) to its junction with Harstonge Street (L-10376-2).The road closure will be in effect on 5th September 2026 from 07:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs.

Diversions for local traffic (cars and vans only) will be in place via Harstonge Street (L-10376-2). All buses and HGVs will be diverted via Mallow Street (L-10367-5) and Lower Mallow Street (R-527). Diversions will be clearly signposted for the duration of the works Local access only will be permitted to Little Barrington Street and Pery Square. No through traffic will be permitted on Barrington Street while crane operations are in progress. Local access to Schoolhouse Lane will be maintained via St. Joseph's Street only, with the road closed at the rear entrance of the site. Barrington Street will be closed except to local traffic from Quinlan Street (R526) in both northbound and southbound directions. Banksmen and appropriate signage will be in place to ensure public safety.
