Limerick City and County Council is reminding families across the city and county that Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 takes place this Saturday, 06 June, with over 30 free events planned for children and young people.

As Ireland’s national day of free creativity, Cruinniú na nÓg will see venues across Limerick come alive with hands-on workshops, performances and interactive experiences spanning music, visual art, theatre, film, circus and storytelling.

This year’s programme includes a wide variety of engaging, activity-based events, from animation and digital media workshops, DJ and music sessions, hip hop dance and drumming workshops, to printmaking, screen printing and visual art activities.

Young people can also take part in storytelling and puppet-making sessions, theatre experiences, film challenges, sensory-friendly workshops and creative technology activities such as VR and game design.

Experiences such as fire station tours, interactive performances and live demonstrations also feature, ensuring there are opportunities for all ages and interests.

Two main activity hubs will operate in Limerick City and Newcastle West, with events centred at the Citizen Innovation Lab and across the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West Library and Newcastle West Fire Station.

Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme, delivered in partnership with all 31 local authorities and RTÉ. In Limerick, the programme has been developed by Limerick City and County Council in collaboration with local creatives, artists, cultural organisations, professional bodies and community groups.

Saturday 06 June offers children and young people the opportunity to express themselves, learn new skills and take part in creative experiences in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Some events require advance booking. Full programme details are available at:
