Limerick is set to come alive with flavour, fun and festivity this September with the launch of Flavours of Limerick, a brand-new food festival celebrating Limerick’s vibrant culinary culture.

Taking place across various locations in Limerick, the four-day festival will feature an exciting programme of tastings, live demos, family activities, and immersive food experiences - all designed to showcase the people, produce and places that make Limerick a food destination on the rise.

The festival will be delivered by Limerick City and County Council and is supported by the Mayor of Limerick’s Mayoral Fund. Developing an annual food festival to celebrate and promote local produce is a goal within the broader Mayoral Programme.

Four Pillar Events

Thursday 18th – Mystery Dinner

An exclusive, one-night-only mystery dinner in a hidden city location. With the location revealed just hours before, guests will be guided into a one-of-a-kind atmospheric setting for an unforgettable dining experience curated by top local chefs. Expect bold flavours, local ingredients and a serious dose of theatrical flair. Tickets limited - booking essential.

Friday 19th – Street Feast

Nicholas Street transforms into a pedestrianised street party for one night only, with food stations, live music and local flavours taking centre stage. In partnership with Culture Night, this free community event invites everyone to experience food, culture and celebration.

Saturday 20th – Sing-a-long Picnic

People’s Park will host a family day featuring larger than life characters, picnic zones and singalong fun for kids (and grown-ups) of all ages.

Sunday 21st – Sunday at the Milk Market

The Milk Market becomes the festival’s live demo hub with top chefs including Trisha Lewis & Tom Flavin cooking up a storm on the main stage. Workshops, tastings and a specially curated line-up of food stalls will round out the final day in the city’s most iconic food venue.

Fringe Events Across the City

Beyond the pillar events, Flavours of Limerick will host a range of intimate and interactive experiences including:

  • Traditional Tea Ceremonies

  • Tasting Trails through local cafés, delis, and restaurants

  • Guided Whiskey Tastings in historic venues

  • A curated Wine & Cheese Experience hosted by local experts

Whether you're a foodie, a family, or a curious visitor, there’s something for everyone throughout the weekend.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran said:

“Growing up on a farm I was always conscious of Limerick having such a rich tradition in food, across both the city and county. I felt strongly about allocating some of the Mayoral Fund to begin putting a spotlight on the quality of our food and to allow our food producers to achieve their full potential. I was delighted to base the entire menu of the Mayor’s Charity Dinner this year on Limerick food. Whether it’s menus like these at civic events or festivals like Flavours of Limerick, we want to continue to enhance Limerick’s visibility as a food destination.”

Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery commented:

“"Flavours of Limerick is a tantalising prospect set to bring a whole new energy to our city this September. I’m looking forward to a celebration of great food, but also a celebration of the incredible local producers, chefs and communities. This festival will shine a spotlight on our homegrown talent, and I look forward to this inaugural festival setting a benchmark for a regular fixture on our culinary and cultural calendar for years to come."

Stephane Duclot, Director of Service, Rural, Culture, Community and Tourism Development, Limerick City and County Council added:

"We’re delighted to collaborate with so many passionate stakeholders – from local producers and chefs to cultural partners and event creators – to bring Flavours of Limerick to life. This festival is a celebration of what makes Limerick special, and it's exciting to see such strong community support for a new event that puts our local food culture centre stage."
