Limerick City and County Council Announces Part 8 Process for Design and Innovation Hub on Nicholas Street

  • Nicholas Street

Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce the commencement of the Part 8 public consultation process for the development of a Design and Innovation Hub at 35-39 Nicholas Street, including the historic Fireplace site.

This exciting project will feature artist studios, workspaces, a retail area, exhibition space, and a café/restaurant with an associated outdoor area adjoining St. Peter Street.

The Part 8 process is a public consultation procedure used by local authorities in Ireland for certain types of development projects, allowing the public to view and comment on the proposed plans before a final decision is made.

All drawings and documents related to this development are available for public viewing online and at Limerick City and County Council offices at Merchants Quay and Dooradoyle.

The Part 8 application is on public display until 10th February 2025, and submissions will be accepted until 24th February 2025.

This Part 8 application is a crucial step in the preparatory work for submitting an application for funding under the THRIVE Strand 2.

This initiative is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27.

The funding aims to support the renovation, refurbishment, and adaptation of vacant and derelict heritage buildings in town centres, with allocations ranging from €2 million to €7 million.
