Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, has confirmed funding of €900 through the Mayoral Fund to cover the cost of the Sensory Unit at the 2026 Limerick Show, helping to ensure the popular annual event remains accessible and welcoming for all visitors.

The Sensory Unit provides a calm and supportive space for children and young people with sensory sensitivities and their families, offering a quieter environment during the show.

Mayor of Limerick John Moran said:

"I am delighted to cover the cost of having the Sensory Unit at the Limerick Show once again through the Mayoral Fund. The Limerick Show is one of the county's most important community events, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, and it is important that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the day and participate fully in all that the show has to offer.

I saw first-hand last year the joy experienced by the children using the Sensory Unit and want once more to thank all those who provide this valuable service. Their work helps create lasting and happy memories for children and families attending the show."

Keith Enright, CEO and Founder of ASD Ireland, added:

"Ireland's leading autism charity is delighted to be attending the Limerick Show this week with Ireland's only mobile sensory room, designed by people with autism. We are proud to be supporting our city in making Limerick events truly inclusive."

The Limerick Show Committee also thanked the Mayor for his sponsorship.

“The Limerick Show Committee would like to sincerely thank the Mayor of Limerick for his continued support of the Limerick Show throughout the year. His commitment to promoting agriculture, rural communities and one of the county’s flagship events is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to welcoming him to this year’s Show.”
