Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce the beneficiaries of an initiative to support community groups intending to promote Christmas gatherings within their communities.
The funding is coming from by Mayor of Limerick John Moran’s discretionary Mayoral Fund.
€20,000 had initially been made available for groups to apply for, in order to supplement the cost of festive activities and ensure a more vibrant and inclusive Christmas experience across Limerick.
However, given the interest the initiative has generated and the quality of the applications, the Mayor doubled the initial allocation to €40,000 to ensure that additional requests could be accommodated.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, commented:
“Christmas is a time to bring friends and families together. It is a time to bring light, warmth and togetherness to every corner of Limerick this Christmas. By backing these projects, we’re investing in connection, creativity and welcome across our communities. As Mayor, I want to thank each volunteer, resident, committee member and group who has stepped forward and taken the opportunity to create moments of joy and belonging in their locality this Christmas. It’ll be tough, as there were so many good ideas, but I am hoping to be able to see in person your streets and squares sparkle and look forward to sharing in the warmth that will be created.”
