Cllr Olivia O’Sullivan

I am from Limerick and I represent Limerick City North Electoral Area in the Metropolitan District. I was first elected to Limerick City and County Council in 2019.

I was new to politics when I was elected. I was motivated to run as Caherdavin had nobody from the area in the previous Council term, and it felt we were forgotten about when we had no voice at the table.

I was already involved in various cultural, tourism and local food initiatives for Limerick through my work and volunteerism, which I could bring to the role, so I took a chance and put my name forward.

I am also a mother of young children - something I bring to the role too, which is helpful when forming decisions for the future of Limerick. After all, the decisions we make are for our children’s Limerick, the Limerick of the future.

We need a better balance of women and men at every table making decisions for Limerick, and decisions that affect the everyday lives of the people of Limerick. To achieve this, we need more women to get involved, to understand their worth, and to put themselves forward for election.
