Cllr Brigid Teefy

I am from County Limerick and I represent Cappamore/Kilmallock Municipal District. I was first elected to Limerick County Council in 1999 and have been re-elected in each subsequent election since then.

I was Cathaoirleach of the Council in 2002/2003 and 2005/2006. During my time in office I have served on many different strategic policy groups in the Council, am a former member of Co. Limerick Vocational Educational Committee and now a member of the Limerick and Clare Educational and Training Board.

I have been involved in many local organisations and committees over the years and I've always had a great interest in politics and people. Standing for election to the Council was a way of helping local communities and helping to influence policies in the local authority.

Female representation is still very low across politics, and I would encourage more women to come forward for election for a more balanced and representative electoral system.
