Taking in Charge

Taking in Charge is a request to have services within a housing estate taken in charge by the local authority when a development is completed to the satisfaction of the local authority.

The services taken in charge and maintained by the Council are:

  • Public roads and footpaths
  • Public open spaces
  • Public Lighting
  • Surface Water infrastructure

The responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of a housing estate remains with the developer until such time as an estate is taken in charge.
