Household Waste Collection Subsidy Scheme (Bin Waiver)

Limerick City and County Council operates the Household Waste Collection Subsidy Scheme. The quickest and easiest way to apply is online through my.limerick.ie, details of which can be found below.

Limerick City and County Council invite applications for the Household Waste Collection Subsidy Scheme 2026, also known as “Bin Waiver”.

Qualifying Criteria

In order to qualify for the Household Waste Collection Subsidy Scheme 2026 you must meet the qualifying income criteria in Category A or Category B.

Please note: Proof of income is required

Category A: Applicant must be of pension age i.e. 66 years old or over, and in receipt of either; State Contributory / Non-Contributory / Widow(er)’s / Surviving Civil Partner’s Pension only, and
  • Living alone and in receipt of the Living Alone Allowance, or
  • Living with a person who also qualifies for the scheme under Category A or
    Category Bor
  • Living with dependents without any income

Category B: Applicant must be in receipt of Disability Allowance / Invalidity

Pension / Blind Pension only, and

  • Living alone and in receipt of the Living Alone Allowance, or
  • Living with a person who also qualifies for the scheme under Category A or
    Category B, or
  • Living with dependents without any income

Note: If you are in receipt of any other income, other than the qualifying criteria listed in Category A or Category B above; you do not qualify for the scheme, e.g. carers, private pension, job seekers, one parent family etc.

If you do not collect your payment in the Post Office and are unable to access your statement online at mygovid.ie you can email Limerick@Welfare.ie to request it. Alternatively, you can request statement in your local INTREO office or ask them to fill out the Income Details Form that can be downloaded here.

Deadline

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 31 January 2026.
