Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) extends best wishes to Limerick’s Senior Hurlers as they prepare to take on Cork in the GAA Allianz Hurling League Division 1A Final.
Tens of thousands of supporters will travel to Limerick TUS Gaelic Grounds for this Easter treat on Sunday, 5th April 2026.
Throw-in has been set for 4pm and will be preceded by the Division 1B final between Clare and Dublin which throws-in at 1.45pm.
The Council extends a warm welcome to supporters of all counties and invites them to enjoy all that Limerick city has to offer before and after the match.

Luimneach Abú
Limerick City and County Council encourages all attendees to enjoy the games and to show respect for one another, as well as for local businesses and residents, particularly those living near the stadium.
To help keep Limerick clean, please make use of the additional bins provided by LCCC along key routes and around TUS Gaelic Grounds. Council cleansing crews will be working throughout and following the event to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
Match goers are reminded that the possession or use of flares, smoke bombs, and similar pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited, and intoxicated individuals will be refused entry in accordance with stadium regulations.
An Garda Síochána further advises supporters to take sensible precautions with personal belongings and to ensure children are supervised at all times when travelling to and from the event.
Traffic Management
Motorists and match patrons are advised that very significant road closures will operate in the city this Sunday (see Garda Traffic Management Plan below).
Limerick City and County Council, An Garda Síochána and Limerick County GAA Board advise patrons to be parked at least one hour before match start time and to use city centre off street car parks and free on street facilities.
- Arrive early
- Park in the city centre and walk out
- Do not park on footpaths, grass areas, block entrances, or block emergency vehicle access
An Garda Síochána have issued the following advice:
“A capacity crowd of 44,000 is expected to attend the games, which will cause traffic disruption in Limerick City and approach roads to the city. To maximise everyone’s enjoyment of the day Garda advice to patrons is to arrive in plenty of time, to park cars legally, i.e. not causing obstruction, not parking on green areas or at locations where parking is prohibited. Cars illegally parked will be ticketed and those causing obstruction are likely to be towed away by Gardai.”
Closures and Diversions
The Ennis Road R445 from Union Cross to Ivan’s Cross/Caherdavin Cross will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12pm onwards. Traffic will be diverted to the Northern Ring Road, Clonmacken, Shannon Bridge and Thomond Bridge.
A number of other rolling road closures/diversions will apply from 12pm to 7pm.

Residential, business and emergency service vehicle access will be maintained.
Vehicle tow away will operate.
Public bus routes will be kept running for as long as is possible up to match time at An Garda Síochána’s discretion.
Garda Traffic Management Plan
The Garda Traffic Management Plan also advises the following:
If you are driving to the match the Gardaí would appeal to patrons to keep to the speed limits, never “Drink & Drive”, “Text & Drive” or “Phone & Drive.”
Motorists using the Limerick Tunnel should consider using the main toll plaza, continue on the N18 to Exit 5 (Portdrine/Cratloe, take the N18 fly-over and take the Limerick Southern Ring Road to the Caherdavin Exit (R445) and utilise Ennis Road.
Closures/Diversions:
Road Closures/diversions will apply from 12pm onwards at the following locations:
- Sarsfield Bridge will be closed to outbound traffic. Motorists will be diverted at the junction of Henry Street and Sarsfield Street.
- Condell Road/Shelbourne Rd Lower junction. No traffic will be permitted to turn right off Condell Road onto Shelbourne Road.
- Clancy Strand/High Road. No traffic permitted onto Clancy Strand off High Road
- Belfield Court/High Road. Only residential traffic permitted onto Belfield Court off High Road.
- Stenson Park/Sexton Street North. Only residential traffic permitted into Stenson Park off Sexton Street North.
- Hassetts Cross/Shelbourne Rd junction. No traffic will be permitted onto Shelbourne Rd at Hassetts Cross. Traffic will be diverted to Cratloe Rd and Sexton St North
- Ennis Rd. At its junction with Ivan’s Cross – traffic will be diverted to Northern Ring Road and towards Clonmacken Road
- Salesian’s School/North Circular Road junction – Road Closure
- Shelbourne Road/North Circular Road at Clanmaurice Avenue – Road Closure
- Union Cross – traffic will be diverted to Shelbourne Rd
- Shelbourne Pk./Shelbourne Road – Road Closure
- Shelbourne Rd./Mayorstone Drive – Road Closure
- Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Avenue – Road Closure.
- Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper – Road Closure.
- Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper & T.U.S Roundabout (Merval Pk.) – Road Closure.
- Ennis Road/Derravarragh Road – only local residents permitted
Parking:
- Motorists are advised to park in the city centre and walk to T.U.S. Gaelic Grounds (30 minutes)
- Parking available at city centre carparks and on street parking
- Disability parking passes for T.U.S. Gaelic Grounds only available through G.A.A. County Boards.
- Ennis Road from Sarsfield Bridge to Caherdavin Cross (Ivans) will be closed from 12pm
- Shelbourne Rd from Hassetts Cross to Condell Road will be closed from 12pm
- Parking will be available at different locations on the Ennis Road between Coonagh roundabout and Caherdavin Cross.
- Parking will also be available at T.U.S. Campus, Old Cratloe Road
- There is no specific bus or coach parking around T.U.S. Gaelic Grounds. Coaches must not be parked in a manner which may lead to disruption. Cratloe Road and Condell Road should be used for drop off and collection. Alternatively, coaches should park in coach parking areas in the city centre and patrons walk to the grounds.
After Game Traffic Management:
- Priority will be given to patrons exiting T.U.S. Gaelic Grounds after the game
- Ennis Road will be closed from Sarsfield Bridge to Caherdavin Cross
- Two lanes of traffic will operate outbound on the Ennis Road from Caherdavin Cross to Coonagh roundabout
- All outbound traffic on Ennis Road from Caherdavin Cross to Coonagh roundabout will be directed out the R445 to the N18 and to take Exit 5 Portdrine/Cratloe, take flyover and Limerick Southern Ring Road back to Tunnel Toll Plaza and on to the Limerick Tunnel
- Condell Road will be closed to inbound traffic at Coonagh roundabout.
- Traffic on Clonmacken Road will be directed towards Clonmacken Road roundabout and Condell Road and will use Toll Plaza or Condell Road to Shannon Bridge
- Inbound traffic on Ennis Road will use Sarsfield Bridge to Limerick City centre
- Inbound traffic on Cratloe Road will use Sexton Street North to Thomond Bridge to Island Road to Dublin Road and Limerick City centre.
- Brookeville Avenue at its junction with T.U.S. roundabout will be closed and traffic will use Cratloe Road inbound or Old Cratloe Road to Coonagh link road outbound
- Redgate Road at its junction with Old Cratloe Road will be closed and only residents will be permitted into Redgate Road. Traffic will use Cratloe Road and Old Cratloe Road.
FLARES/SMOKE BOMBS/INTOXICATION
- Patrons attending the match are reminded that Stadium Regulations prohibit the possession of smoke bombs and flares in the grounds. Patrons may be denied entry if found in possession of same.
- The lighting of smoke bombs or flares is an offence and any person found lighting same in the stadium will be ejected from the grounds and may face criminal prosecution.
- Intoxicated patrons will be denied entry to the grounds
Crime Prevention Advice
An Garda Síochána would like all patrons travelling to the game to have a safe trip so the here are a few tips for those travelling to the match
- Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle and if you must, keep them out of view. This should be done before you get to your destination.
- There will be large crowds at the match so parents should exercise caution and be aware of their child’s whereabouts at all times
