Limerick City and County Council advise motorists and match patrons that very significant road closures will operate from 12pm onwards on the Ennis Road R445 on Sunday, 5th April 2026.
The Ennis Road R445 from Union Cross to Ivan’s Cross/Caherdavin Cross will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12pm onwards. Traffic will be diverted to the Northern Ring Road, Clonmacken, Shannon Bridge and Thomond Bridge.
Closures/Diversions:
Rolling Road Closures/diversions are likely to apply from 12pm to 7pm onwards at the following locations.
- Ennis Rd. at its junction with Ivan’s Cross – traffic will be diverted to Northern Ring Road and towards Clonmacken
- Salesian’s School/North Circular Road junction – Road Closure
- Shelbourne Road/North Circular Road at Clanmaurice Avenue – Road Closure
- Union Cross – Closed to traffic outbound on Ennis Road
- Shelbourne Pk./Shelbourne Road – Road Closure
- Shelbourne Rd./Mayorstone Drive – Road Closure .
- Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Avenue – Road Closure.
- Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper – Road Closure.
- Old Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper & T.U.S Roundabout (Merval Pk.) – Road Closure.
- Sarsfield Bridge – Closed to traffic outbound, No left turn from Henry Street to Sarsfield Bridge
Traffic Signal Junctions with Signals may be switched out for short periods of time and with a Garda Present.

Residential and business access will be maintained.
Public Bus Routes will be kept running for as long as is possible up to the Match Event at An Garda Síochána’s discretion
Emergency service vehicle access will be maintained.
Vehicle Tow Away will operate.
Limerick City and County Council, An Garda Síochána and Limerick County GAA Board advise patrons to be parked at least one hour before match start time and to use city centre off street car parks and free on street facilities.
