The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan TD has been honoured with a Mayoral Reception by Limerick City and County Council.

The reception at the Civic Offices in Merchant’s Quay in Limerick city was to acknowledge Minister Noonan’s achievements locally, nationally and in the international sphere.

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon said: “I’m delighted to be able to have this reception for Minister Noonan. It is about marking his contribution to the development of Limerick and the mid west region over the past number of years, particularly as Minister for Finance.”

“Limerick is in the middle of a rebirth, following a number of significant developments in recent years, including the National City of Culture, continued funding of the regeneration programme, jobs announcements, Limerick Twenty Thirty, investments in the University of Limerick, LIT and UL Hospitals Group.

It’s true to say and few would argue that Michael’s guiding hand has been pushing these projects over the line for the people of Limerick and the mid west region.”

“This reception is a way of saying thank you.”

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan TD said: “I feel honoured and very appreciative that the mayor decided to do this. I’d like to thank him, I’m looking forward to it, all my friends are here. I’ve known Kieran (Mayor Kieran O’Hanlon) a long time and it was very decent of him to award me a mayoral reception and I appreciate it very much.”

To mark the occasion Minister Noonan has been presented with an oil painting called ‘In the Spring’ by acclaimed local artist Tom Greaney.
