Ortec Inc announcement reinforces confidence in Limerick and shows focus is on development across the city and county
The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon is welcoming the announcement that up to 110 new jobs are being created by Ortec Inc. in Newcastle West.
“The investment is a significant boost for the economy of Limerick, as a whole, and Newcastle West in particular. One hundred and ten skilled engineering and science jobs are being created with the establishment of a European Headquarters, Manufacturing and Operations Centre,” he said.
“It is particularly pleasing to see the level of co-operation between the company and local developers with IDA Ireland, Limerick City and County Council and Shannon Properties in securing this deal for Newcastle West. Ortec will be hiring highly skilled people for the positions, which can only have a positive impact on the local area,” he continued.
Cllr John Sheahan, Cathaoirleach of the Newcastle West Municipal District says the investment by Ortec will have an important knock-on effect for West Limerick.
“I welcome the jobs announcement today with open arms. It’s been a long time in the making. My hope is that Ortec will become an anchor in Newcastle West and a magnet for other industries to look at locating in the town.”
“I hope the 110 jobs announced by Ortec will have a knock-on effect for other businesses, such as the service sector, in Newcastle West and West Limerick in general,” he added.
Pat Daly, Director of Economic Development with Limerick City and County Council said: “Limerick City and County Council is delighted with the investment by Ortec Inc. We have been working with the company over the past few months to secure the deal for Newcastle West. The investment shows the local authority is committed to delivering for all of Limerick.”
