Whole of Limerick supporting Limerick-based Sinead Lynch and her rowing partner Claire Lambe as they row for Olympic glory

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon is congratulating Limerick-based Sinead Lynch and her rowing partner Claire Lambe on qualifying for the Olympic Final of the Lighweight Double Sculls in Rio.

“It’s an amazing achievement for Sinead and Claire.  All the hard work and sacrifices made over the past few years have paid off.  To make the Olympics is a great accomplishment but to get to a final of your event is something special.  Who knows what will happen in the final?” the Mayor said.

“Their final takes place at 2.32pm Irish Time on Friday and you can be guaranteed that everyone in Limerick will be glued to their race, urging the women to push and row for glory.”

“I am a life member of St Michael’s Rowing Club, where Sinead rows out of, and I know everyone there is very proud of her achievements,” he added.

“I would also like to congratulate brothers Gary and Paul O'Donovan from County Cork who have also made it to the final of the men's lightweight double sculls.  Let’s hope for double Irish success!” he concluded.
