Limerick City and County Council wish to advise that temporary traffic management measures will be in operation in connection with essential maintenance works and tunnel control system upgrades at the Limerick Tunnel. The works will take place overnight between 21:00hrs and 06:00hrs from Monday 24th August 2026 to Thursday 10th September 2026.

Road Pavement Surface Treatment Works (weather dependent)
- Monday 24th August & Tuesday 25th August 2026
- Closure of N18 southbound at Junction 4.
- Diversion route via R445, R527 and R510 between N18 Junction 4 and N18 Junction 2.
- Wednesday 26th August 2026
- Closure of N18 southbound at Junction 1.
- Closure of M20 to M7 slip road.
- Diversion to M7 via Rossbrien Roundabout.
- Thursday 27th August 2026
- Slip road closures at N18 Junction 1.
- Diversions via M20 Junction 2 and/or N18 Junction 2 as required.
Weeks Commencing 31st August and 7th September 2026
Tunnel Control System Upgrades
From Monday 31st August to Thursday 3rd September 2026 and from Monday 7th September to Thursday 10th September 2026:
- Limerick Tunnel will be closed in both directions.
- The N18 between Junction 2 and Junction 4 will be closed nightly.
- Diversions will be in place via the R445, R527 and R510.
Diversion routes will be clearly signposted. Local access and emergency services access will be maintained where practicable.
