Temporary Road Closure: M7 Motorway, Limerick

Limerick City and County Council wishes to advise motorists and road users that temporary night-time road closures will be in place on sections of the M7 motorway from Monday, 17 August 2026 to Friday, 28 August 2026, between the hours of 7.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m., to facilitate the installation of a vehicle restraint system.

The M7 Eastbound carriageway will be closed between J25 (Nenagh East) and J23 (Moneygall) on the nights of 17, 18 and 19 August 2026. Subject to the progress of works, the closure on 19 August may change to between J24 (Toomevara) and J23 (Moneygall).

The eastbound carriageway will then be closed between J24 (Toomevara) and J23 (Moneygall) on the nights of 20 and 21 August 2026, and again from 24 to 28 August 2026.

In addition, the M7 Westbound carriageway will be closed between J23 (Moneygall) and J24 (Toomevara) on the nights of 23, 24 and 25 August 2026.

During daytime hours, aftercare works will be in operation.

On the eastbound carriageway, traffic capacity will be reduced to a single lane and a temporary speed limit of 60 km/h will apply. On the westbound carriageway, a hard shoulder closure and a temporary speed limit of 60 km/h will be in place.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted for the duration of the works.
