After a hugely successful opening weekend, Limerick’s Summer in the City programme continues this weekend with two major sporting highlights as the TAFISA European Sport for All Games 2026 brings participants from 26 countries to Limerick and the All Ireland Skateboarding Championship returns to Mount Kennett Skate Park for one of Ireland's premier skateboarding events.
The events are the latest highlights in Limerick's month-long Summer in the City programme, which got off to a flying start with the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and the opening of the Urban Beach at Steamboat Quay, both of which attracted strong public interest and participation.
TAFISA European Sport for All Games 2026
More than 250 participants are expected to take part in the TAFISA European Sport for All Games 2026, with free activities and demonstrations taking place across the city centre from 7 to 10 August.
Taking place across locations including The Crescent, Arthur's Quay Park, People's Park, Nicholas Street and Honan's Quay, the TAFISA European Sport for All Games will give people of all ages the chance to discover and try a wide variety of traditional sports, games and activities from across Europe. All events are free and open to the public.
The TAFISA European Sport for All Games are organised by Limerick Sports Partnership and TAFISA in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council, University of Limerick and Sport Ireland.
All Ireland Skateboarding Championship
The All Ireland Skateboarding Championship takes place at Mount Kennett Skate Park on Saturday, right next to the popular Urban Beach, bringing many of Ireland's top skateboarders to Limerick for a day of high-level competition and entertainment.
Spectators can expect an exciting day of competition, skills demonstrations and community spirit as skateboarders from across Ireland compete for national honours.
Fun for All
Alongside the sporting action, Summer in the City visitors can also enjoy a number of other events across the city this weekend. On Saturday, Echoes of Limerick: Time Travellers of the City will bring history to life on Thomas Street, while on Sunday Dance Limerick Summer Moves 2026 will transform John's Square with free outdoor dance performances and activities.
Together, the events offer another packed weekend of sport, culture, creativity and family-friendly entertainment as Summer in the City continues to transform public spaces across Limerick throughout August.
