Part 8 Development: R515: Ashford Village, Co. Limerick

In accordance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Acts 2000 (as amended) and Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City & County Council proposed to carry out the development described hereunder at the following site at R515 - Ashford Village, Co. Limerick.

 

The proposed development will consist of: 

  • Construction of new 1.5m to 1.8m wide footpaths through village.
  • Repair/Upgrade of existing footpaths through village.
  • Relocation of existing Pedestrian crossing to new location outside the Church to Ash Hall
  • Removal of 14m approx. of existing boundary wall at Ashford Pre-school, setting back and rebuilding of wall to facilitate construction of footpath.
  • Removal of 35m approx. of existing boundary wall at property beside The Village Inn, setting back and rebuilding of wall to facilitate construction of footpath. 
  • Removal of 50m approx. of hedgerows north of village, construction of 1.2m high wall with 1.8m high piers with steel fence panels between piers for a 25m section.
  • 1.2m high TII specification fencing for 25m section.
  • Installation of new drainage works.
  • Installation of speed ramps through village.
  • Installation of new tactile paving and drop kerbs.
  • Installation of new road markings.
  • Installation of appropriate Traffic signs.
  • Upgrade of existing public lighting.

Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report in accordance with the requirements of Article 120(1B)(b)(i) and has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment.

Nonetheless, a person may within 4 weeks from the date of the notice, apply to An  Coimisiún Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether this development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment. Such a submission should be addressed to the Secretary, An Coimisiún Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1.

Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report and EcIA report, and it has been determined that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of this proposed development.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection and/or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy from the 1/ 7 /2026 up to and including 29/ 7/2026 at the Customer Services Desk, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, V94 EH90 and at Planning, Heritage and Ryder Cup Department, Limerick City & County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick, V94 WV78 and Limerick City & County Council, Aras William Smith O Brien, Gortboy, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick, V42 EH73 between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection online

during the above timeframes at https://planning.localgov.ie

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated may be made:

on or before 4pm on ­­­­­­­the 12/ 8 /2026.

Note: Only submissions made in the above manner will be considered as valid submissions for the purposes of the Mayor’s Report that will be presented to Council.
