Limerick Celebrates National Biodiversity Week with Programme of Local Events

  • Limerick Biodiversity Action Plan

Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) is proud to support National Biodiversity Week (15 – 24 May), bringing together a varied programme of events that celebrate nature, wildlife and the people working to protect it across Limerick.

Throughout the week, LCCC is hosting and supporting a range of walks, talks, workshops and activities designed to help people connect with local biodiversity - from urban parks and rivers to rural landscapes and community spaces. Events highlight pollinators, birds, bats, wetlands, native plants and the everyday actions we can all take to support nature.

Speaking ahead of the week, Limerick City and County Council’s Biodiversity Officer, Sinead McDonnell said:

“National Biodiversity Week is a great opportunity for people of all ages to discover the wildlife on their doorstep and to see how protecting nature also supports climate action, health and wellbeing. We’re delighted to offer a strong programme of council‑led events across the city and county.”

LCCC National Biodiversity Week events are open to the public and free to attend.
