Part 8 Development: Adare Village, Co. Limerick

In accordance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City & County Council proposes to carry out the development described hereunder in Adare Village, Co. Limerick.

  • Widening and improving footpaths in the village core and village approach routes,
  • Construction of 3no. controlled, 2no. uncontrolled new pedestrian crossings and upgrades to existing crossings to improve pedestrian connectivity and road safety,
  • New public lighting scheme on Main Street,
  • New landscaping and sustainable drainage systems, including tree pits and rain gardens,
  • New street furniture including age friendly seating and new bins,
  • Replacement of signage,
  • New traffic calming features included Gateway Treatments, reducing the N21 road width and introduction of various landscaping features.

In accordance with the requirements of Article 120(1B)(b)(i) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), Limerick City & County Council has carried out a screening for environmental impact assessment of the proposal. Having regard to the information specified under Schedule 7A of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended and based on an examination of the nature, size and location of the development. It is determined that there is no likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development.

Nonetheless, a person may within 4 weeks beginning on the date of the publication of this notice apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether this development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment. Such a submission should be addressed to the Secretary, An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1.

Limerick City & County Council in accordance with the requirements of Article 250(1) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening and has determined that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of the proposed development.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection and/or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, from Monday 26th January 2026 up to and including Monday 23rd February 2026 during public opening hours (excluding bank holidays) at the following locations:

  • Customer Services Desk, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, V94 EH90
  • Planning Department, Limerick City & County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick, V94 WV78.
  • Limerick City and County Council Area Office, Áras Seán Finn, New Line Road, Rathkeale, Co.Limerick
  • Adare Library, Adare
  • Plans and particulars of the proposed development will also be available for inspection online during the above timeframes at https://mypoint.limerick.ie

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated may be made:

Submissions must be received on or before 4pm on Monday 9th March 2026.

Note: Only submissions made in the above manner will be considered as valid submissions for the purposes of the Mayor’s Report to be presented to Council.
