Storm Ophelia – Update 13h30 – Latest Information

Clean-up crews from Limerick City and County Council have been working since first light to removed trees/ branches and other debris from Limerick’s road network in the aftermath of Storm Ophelia.

All National and Regional roads have been cleared and crews are working through the list of local roads affected.

It is expected to have at least 90% of all roads cleared by this evening [Tuesday 17th Oct], with the remainder on Wednesday while further clean-up works will be carried over the coming days.

Motorists are still reminded to drive with extreme caution and expect the unexpected.

Remember downed power lines might be hidden in a fallen tree/ branches so don’t approach.

Limerick City and County Council is working with the ESB where trees and power lines have been downed.

Due to the scale of Storm Ophelia, please contact the Customer Services Department of Limerick City and County Council on 061 556000, if you notice a tree has fallen onto a road.

Limerick City and County Council is also advising people to contact ESB Networks if their power is out.

Crews will be working as fast as they possibly can to restore power.

Please check on older and more vulnerable neighbours and friends to see if they are OK.
