Limerick City and County Council Establishes Local Coordination Group to Assist Residents Affected by Storm Éowyn

  • Tree Down

Following the severe impact of Storm Éowyn, Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) has established a Local Coordination Group to support residents in need. This group is an additional support, continuing the actions of Limerick City and County Council’s Emergency and Crisis Response teams, which have been in place before, during and after the latest storm.

The Local Coordination Group held their first meeting today at LCCC’s offices at Merchant’s Quay. This initiative is part of a national Government effort to provide essential services to those affected by the storm.

Representatives from the ESB, Uisce Eireann, An Garda Síochána, HSE, The Department of Social Protection, Limerick Fire and Rescue Service, West Limerick Resources, Ballyhoura Development, Paul Partnership, Limerick Volunteer Centre, TFI Local Link and the Civil Defence took part in the meeting.

Anyone without water or power, or who is looking for humanitarian assistance can contact Limerick City and County Council’s team on 061 556000.

The customer service team will advise of the next steps available to the public in their area.

The Council is committed to ensuring that all residents have access to these vital resources during this challenging time.

Storm Éowyn caused significant disruption in Limerick. Limerick City and County Council crews, along with Limerick Fire and Rescue Service and local contractors, engaged in an extensive clean-up operation to clear roads, remove fallen trees, and address structural damage.

ESB Networks have reconnected tens of thousands of customers across Limerick, while Uisce Éireann expect most of the remaining water supply issues to be resolved today.
