The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick has welcomed the opening of the M17/ M18 motorway extension connecting the cities of Limerick and Galway and on northwards to Tuam.
Mayor Stephen Keary said: “The opening of the motorway is very good news for people working and living in the Limerick city region. The 54km stretch of motorway means that Limerick is closer than ever for people on the western seaboard.”
“Having motorway connectivity along the western seaboard means that Limerick has now become an even more attractive location for inward investment, as thousands of more people are now within an hours drive of Limerick.”
“The improved infrastructure means Limerick can act as a fulcrum for investment and growth along the western seaboard and act as a counterpole to the growth in the capital.”
