Do you want to be involved in the development of Limerick’s Laneways?

  • Community Mapping Laneways

Would you like to become involved in plotting the future of Limerick’s Laneways? There is a series of laneways behind the main streets in Limerick that are ready to be discovered. As part of Limerick City and County Council’s EU project +CityxChange (Positive City Exchange) we are hoping to create a new community to drive innovation!

This is a community of individuals, groups, businesses and agencies who are looking at ways to develop smarter cities that are open and accessible for all.

We are all about the positives. Working together to solve problems or to create a new vision. The overarching aim is to develop a series of demonstration projects on how to become a smart positive energy city for all, together, through citizen engagement.

As part of the project a series of Community Participation Events are taking place around specific topics on collective thinking and action.

The first week is all about Limerick’s Laneway and the hidden treasures that can be uncovered.

Beginning on Monday 16 September is Community Mapping Laneways.

We are looking for enthusiastic and positive people as this workshop concentrates on mapping the Georgian Neighbourhood Lanes around the city centre. Participants will be invited to walk around mapping the laneways before returning to base and comparing results.

It is taking place between 11am and 1pm at the Citizen’s Observatory @ Fab Lab Limerick, 6-7 Rutland Street, Limerick V94 D896.

Members of the public, groups and other companies and organisations are invited to attend.

For the remaining series of events see www.limerick.ie/CityxChange.
