Three-week programme of family fun, folklore, food and after-dark experiences begins on 11 October

Halloween in Limerick 2026 gets off to a hair-raising start this weekend as a Spooky Vehicle Run helps set the wheels in motion for three weeks of family adventures, ancient traditions and after-dark thrills across Limerick city and county.

Running from 11 October to 1 November, the full programme offers something for all ages, from pumpkin patches, street theatre and community celebrations, to live entertainment, immersive experiences and events inspired by the ancient festival of Samhain.

Among the first events is the Spooky Vehicle Run in Pallaskenry on Sunday, 11 October, featuring Halloween-themed cars, tractors and motorcycles, along with a Junior Spooky Run for children.

The opening week will also see ancient traditions come to life at Samhain at the Crossroads in Kilfinane, while The Scare Factory opens its doors and Morbid & Sons bring free street theatre to Limerick city.

The full Halloween in Limerick 2026 programme includes events supported by Limerick City and County Council and funded by Ireland, Home of Halloween, the all-island initiative led by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland. These are complemented by a wide range of community-led and independently organised events across Limerick.

Upcoming Treats

From Monday, 12 October, Samhain at the Crossroads will bring a free programme of workshops and community activities to Kilfinane. Costume-making, willow lantern-making, creative writing and storytelling will lead into The Final Gathering at The Fountain on Saturday, 17 October.

Those looking for a fright can visit The Scare Factory at Cleeves from Thursday, 15 October. The immersive walkthrough experience will run until 1 November. Enter if you dare!

On Saturday, 17 October, Morbid & Sons - Pop Up Funeral Shop will bring music, dark humour and free street theatre to Nicholas Street, with further performances on Saturday, 24 October.

Families can also visit the Woodlands Pumpkin Patch in Adare throughout October with pumpkins, games, activities and seasonal family entertainment, or catch some thriller rides at Halloween Funderland, Groody Road from 17 October.

Waiting in the Shadows

Coming up later in October, families can step right up for the Fossett’s Circus Halloween Spooktacular, blaze a wicked trail through Limerick with the free Trick or Treat in the City and enjoy Castleconnell Fright Fest, Limerick Harvest Festival, and Samhain at Lough Gur: Where Myth meets Memory.

Across County Limerick, further highlights include Rathkeale Halloween Festival ‘Dullahan to Darkness’, the Trick or Treat Trails at Barnagh Greenway Hub and Halloween at Desmond Castle in Newcastle West.

The Halloween City Centre Fancy Dress 5K, will be an event - and a sight - not to be missed while Oktoberfeis at King John’s Castle brings some culture, music and dance, and the Mystery Samhain Banquet adds some spice.

Fire performances, haunted experiences and community celebrations will continue across the city and county as the programme builds towards Halloween night and beyond.
