Limerick is preparing to welcome thousands of people to more than 70 FREE events across the city and county for Culture Night 2026 on Friday, 18 September. From live music and dance to exhibitions, workshops, fashion, heritage, poetry and community celebrations, this year's programme offers opportunities to discover culture and creativity in every corner of Limerick.
Curated by Limerick Arts Office, the programme brings together artists, creatives, community groups and cultural organisations, with events taking place in galleries, museums, libraries, community halls, public spaces and historic landmarks across the city and county.
The celebrations continue into late into the evening, with many venues remaining open until 10pm or later.
Culture Night at King John’s Castle
One of the highlights of this year's programme will take place at King John's Castle, where Sionna X Trad Folkin' Rocks forms part of Cultúr 2026: Sharing Ireland's Culture, celebrating Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The outdoor event will showcase Ireland's contemporary electronic music scene alongside traditional and folk influences within one of the country's most iconic historic settings, creating a unique Culture Night experience that connects heritage and innovation.
Highlights Across Limerick City
A packed programme of events will take place throughout the city centre and beyond.
Visitors can explore exhibitions, workshops and performances at venues including Ormston House, The Hunt Museum, Limerick Printmakers and Spacecraft Studios.
At the Milk Market, audiences can enjoy blacksmithing demonstrations and take part in the interactive Wishing Station Fairy Altar installation.
On Thomas Street, fashion takes centre stage with a Designer Street Fashion Show featuring Celia Holman Lee, while traditional music and dance will animate Nicholas Street during Sets in the City.
Culture Night at Dance Limerick delivers a programme of dance classes and performances from 6pm to 11pm, including the return of Limerick's Top 8, featuring an energetic mix of traditional music, rap, dance battles, Irish dance, Indian classical dance, breaking, samba and Afro dance performances.
For those seeking a behind-the-scenes experience, Henry Street Garda Station will once again open its doors to the public, offering guided access to areas of the station rarely seen by visitors.
Culture Night across County Limerick
Culture Night extends far beyond the city, with communities across County Limerick showcasing local talent, heritage and creativity.
In Newcastle West, the Red Door Gallery will host Raic sa Teach, a musical performance by Children from Gaelscoil ÒDoghair and Suaimhneach will present a blend of bilingual poetry, music, visual arts and readings.
Abbeyfeale Alive is an exciting evening of music, song, story and poetry while people can explore their creativity through A Taste of Pottery in Bruff and you can visit working artists studios at the Open Studios at Cappamore Art Studios event.
Popular annual events will also return, including ‘Ceol agus Craic in the Glen’ at Glenbrohane Community Hall and there will be a display of local talent at the Ballyneety Men’s Club Culture Night 2026. Castleconnell will celebrate its rich cultural diversity with Our Community, Our Culture.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran is looking forward to one of the best nights in Limerick each year, saying:
"I love Culture Night because it turns the whole of Limerick into one big open house: free, fun and full of surprises. Thousands turned out last year, and this year's programme gives them even more reason to come back, with a major event at King John's Castle marking Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. We are reinforcing our plan for the city of activities in different locations to encourage people to walk back and forth, giving a greater sense of vibrancy, alongside the many other events in towns and villages right across the county; showcasing both the depth of talent on our doorstep and the pride people take in bringing it to life."

With more than 70 events taking place across Limerick, this year’s Culture Night promises an exciting and diverse programme for audiences of all ages.
All Culture Night events are free, although advance booking may be required for some venues.
