Limerick City and County Council is inviting food lovers, families, visitors and locals to get planning for Linger: Limerick Festival of Food, Heritage and Place, which takes place this weekend from 11 to 13 September 2026.

With more than 25 events taking place, the Council is urging people to explore the full programme and book ahead where required, as a number of events have limited capacity and some are already sold out or fully booked.

The inaugural festival will celebrate the people, produce and places that shape Limerick's food culture, with a packed programme of dining experiences, food trails, demonstrations, workshops, talks, cultural events and family-friendly activities.

Festival highlights include outdoor dining at the Fire Feast on Nicholas Street, food experiences and demonstrations with Linger at King John's Castle and the Linger International Food Hub at Wickham Way.

In addition to the headline events, a vibrant fringe programme hosted by local businesses, cafés, visitor attractions and cultural venues will offer even more opportunities to discover the flavours and stories of Limerick.

The full festival programme, including booking information and event details, is available at www.limerick.ie/linger. Some events are already sold out or fully booked, including the Limerick Larder Long Table Dinner and the Children’s Storytelling & Porridge Morning at Limerick Milk Market, so plan ahead and secure places for ticketed events to avoid disappointment.

Developed by Limerick City and County Council as part of the EU-funded SLOWTOUR project, Linger uses food as a way to connect people with Limerick's heritage, communities and unique sense of place. The festival brings together producers, growers, brewers, bakers, chefs, restaurants and community groups to showcase the best of what the city and county has to offer.

Whether you're looking for a unique dining experience, a family day out, a guided tour or the chance to meet the people behind some of Limerick's best food and drink, Linger: Limerick Festival of Food, Heritage and Place offers something for every taste.
