New Homes Delivered at Radharc Cillín as Kilfinane Development Officially Opened

  • Mayor of Limerick and Limerick Council officials open new housing development

Limerick City and County Council is delighted to mark the completion of a new housing development at Radharc Cillín, Kilfinane, delivering 10 high-quality homes in the heart of the East Limerick town following an investment of circa €4 Million funded through the Social Housing Capital Investment Programme (SHCIP).

The development comprises three four-bedroom houses, three three-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom houses and two one-bedroom duplex units Two of the units are incremental purchase and the remaining eight are social homes with 16 children among the new occupants.

The scheme was officially opened by Minister of State for Older People and Housing, Kieran O’Donnell T.D., with Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, joined by Cllr Tommy O’Sullivan representing the Príomh Chomhairleoir, and Director of Housing at Limerick City and County Council, Vincent Murray.

Constructed by KDC Building & Civil Engineering Ltd, the development forms part of Limerick City and County Council's ongoing programme to increase the supply of high-quality homes across the city and county. 

The homes have been carefully designed to integrate with the existing Radharc Cillín development while making the most of its setting and surrounding open space. 

A Sorbus ‘Autumn Spire’ tree was planted as part of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

 

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran commented:

"Levelling-up home delivery across Limerick is central to my Mayoral programme for change. Ten homes, a €4 million investment, three-bedroom and four-bedroom houses to one-bedroom duplexes; real progress in Kilfinane that form part of a broader picture of improvement across Limerick. Developments like Radharc Cillín, designed to integrate with the existing space, are a positive example of how we can support rural communities to continue to thrive."

Minister of State for Older People and Housing, Kieran O’Donnell T.D. said:

"Today marks an important milestone for the individuals and families who now call Radharc Cillín in Kilfinane their home. These ten new homes are an example of the Government's continued commitment to supporting the delivery of secure, high-quality social housing while supporting the sustainable growth of our towns and villages. Government is committed to investing in social housing across Limerick City and County and will continue to deliver homes through continued partnership with Local Authorities and other stakeholders.

“I wish to acknowledge the work of Limerick City and County Council and all parties involved in bringing this housing development to fruition.”

Cathaoirleach of the Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District, Cllr Tommy O’Sullivan, welcomed the project's completion, adding:

"This is a significant day for Kilfinane and the wider Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District. The delivery of these homes strengthens the town, supports local families and helps ensure that people can continue to live in their own community. I’m delighted for the families who have keys to their new homes here today and look forward to seeing even more delivery of housing in our county towns and villages in the near future."

Director of Housing at Limerick City and County Council, Vincent Murray added:

"The official opening of Radharc Cillín reflects the Council's ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable, well-designed housing developments that meet the needs of our communities. From planning and design through to construction and completion, this project has focused on creating quality homes in a welcoming and attractive environment."

The project design team comprised Pat Molloy Quantity Surveyors, Aegis Safety, CS Consulting, Moloney Fox Consulting Engineers and Hutch O'Malley Consulting Engineers.

The completion of Radharc Cillín builds on Limerick City and County Council's extensive programme of housing delivery across the county and reinforces its commitment to creating sustainable communities where people can live, work and prosper.
