Limerick City and County Council wish to advise motorists and road users of planned works for essential maintenance and upgrades to the Limerick Tunnel. The works will take place during the week commencing Monday, 15th June 2026, as follows:
Monday, 15th June 2026
- Overnight single lane in each direction with contra-flow traffic operation in the tunnel
- Between the hours of 19:30hrs to 06:00hrs
- Abnormal loads will be restricted from using the tunnel during these works
Wednesday, 17th June 2026
- Full closure of the N18 in both directions
- Northbound at Junction 2 (Dock Road)
- Southbound at Junction 4 (Cratloem
- Between the hours of 19:30hrs to 06:00hrs
- All traffic will be diverted via the N69, R527 and R445 in both directions
Thursday, 18th June 2026
- Overnight single lane in each direction with contra-flow traffic operation in the tunnel
- Between the hours of 19:30hrs to 06:00hrs
- Clonmacken access road to the tunnel will be closed
- Diversion in place from Caherdavin to N18 via the City Centre
- Abnormal loads will be restricted from using the tunnel during these works
