Limerick City and County Council welcomes the appointment of Ray O’Driscoll as Chief Executive Officer of The Shannon Airport Group, recognising the critical role Shannon Airport plays in supporting connectivity, tourism and economic growth across the Mid-West region.
The Board of The Shannon Airport Group announced the appointment, effective immediately, following his tenure as Interim CEO since September 2025.
Shannon Airport remains a vital international gateway for Limerick and the wider region, underpinning access for business, industry and visitors, while supporting thousands of jobs.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran commented:
“Shannon Airport is a cornerstone of balanced regional development. Ray’s appointment comes at a time when there is a renewed national focus on addressing the imbalance of investment between Dublin and the rest of the country. This is a key agenda which we are driving on here in Limerick and the Midwest through the Project Ireland 2040 sub-group. I had the pleasure of working with Ray during my time as a board member of the Shannon Airport Group. I am confident that Ray’s leadership will provide opportunities to further strengthen Shannon’s role as a counterweight to that imbalance, driving a successful regional airport and international connectivity, investment and sustainable economic transport-orientated development across Limerick and the wider Midwest region.”

Ray O’Driscoll first joined The Shannon Airport Group in 2014 as Managing Director of Shannon Commercial Enterprises, where he led the transformation of the Group’s property portfolio into a major regional economic driver. He also previously held roles as Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer.
With a background in finance and senior leadership roles across industry, and over a decade’s experience within the Group, he brings deep expertise in aviation, commercial development and strategic growth at a time of continued expansion for Shannon Airport and the wider Mid-West region.
