Proposed Footpath Improvement Works and Traffic Calming Measures on the R515: Ashford Village

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to Section 38 (3) of the Road Traffic Act 1994, as amended by the Public Transportation Regulation Act, 2009 (Section 46), Limerick City & County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to introduce the following road layout amendments on the R515, in Ashford, Co. Limerick.

  • Installation of new 1.5 metre - 1.8 metre wide footpaths through the village
  • Repair/Upgrade of existing footpaths through Village
  • Removal of existing Pedestrian crossing and Construction of new Pedestrian crossing at new location outside Church to Ash Hall
  • Installation of new drainage works
  • Installation of speed ramps through Village
  • Installation of new road markings etc.
  • Installation of appropriate Traffic signs
  • Upgrade of existing public lighting

The works will involve the construction and installation of new 1.5metre - 1.8 metre footpath through the village, pedestrian crossing, speed ramps, road markings, tactile paving, drainage works, upgrading of existing public lighting and associated works.

Drawings and particulars of the proposed project are available for inspection at Newcastle West Area Office, Aras William Smith O Brien, Gortboy, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick (V42 EH73) and Limerick City and County Council, Dooradoyle Rd, Dooradoyle, Limerick, (V94 WV78) and may be inspected during normal office hours 9am to 5pm from Wednesday 4th March 2026 to Wednesday 1st April 2026 inclusive. They are also available for inspection online during the above timeframe at https://mypoint.limerick.ie 

Submissions or observations regarding the proposal may be made in writing to the above offices or online at https://mypoint.limerick.ie on or before 5pm, on Wednesday 1st of April 2026.
