Limerick City and County Council has announced details of the Small and Medium Business Support Scheme 2026 which is intended to provide assistance to SME’s throughout the city and county.
The scheme will pay a financial support to occupiers of commercial properties with a total annual commercial rate bill of up to €32,000 in 2026.
Limerick City and County Council’s Rates Department are currently issuing 6,500 rate demands to business customers in Limerick and have enclosed details of the scheme to businesses during this process.
The support for 2026 rates is 17.5% subject to a maximum payment of €1,500.

The last date for applications is 31st December 2026.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, is welcoming the announcement of details of the scheme, saying:
“The 2026 Small and Medium Business Support (SME) Scheme represents a significant investment in Limerick’s business community. By helping to ease the financial burden on occupiers of commercial properties with rate bills of up to €32,000, the scheme ensures that local businesses remain resilient, competitive and well positioned for the future.”
