Limerick Going for Gold 2025 Wildcards Selected to Compete for €70k in Prizes

With judging now complete, 6 Local Groups have been selected as Wildcards to compete in 2025 Limerick Going for Gold Final. The lucky groups will compete to share of over €70k in prize funding in this year’s competition.

In alphabetical order, the six Wildcards are: 

  1. Croagh 

  1. Galbally 

  1. Garrienderk 

  1. Glin 

  1. Kilfinane 

  1. Templeglantine 

Judging took place across three categories: Going for Gold Tidy Towns; Limerick Bee Friendly in Bloom; and Residential Area. 

The Wildcards will join Tidy Towns groups from Castleconnell, Kilmallock, Kilmeedy, Athea and Bulgaden who already secured their places in the competition through a public vote during a Live95 radio campaign.  

This year, the judges included additional awards to recognise the commitment and hard work undertaken by volunteers across Limerick City and County. 

Winners will be announced on the night of the prestigious Limerick Going for Gold grand final ceremony at the Castletroy Park Hotel on 23rd of October 2025. 

More than €70,000 will be shared in prizes over a range of categories:  

  • Residential Areas - Open to all estates and residential areas across Limerick who applied for the Limerick Going for Gold Environment Improvement Grant in 2025 including resident’s groups and associations located in the regeneration area 

  • Endeavour Award - Goes to the most improved Limerick entrant in the National Tidy Towns Competition Awards 

  • Reuse Award - A group/community/club which has come to the attention of Limerick City and County Council for preventing waste or encouraging the prevention of waste by the means of Reuse 

Limerick Going for Gold is funded by Limerick City and County Council and the JP McManus Charitable Foundation. It is supported by our partners: Live 95, the Limerick Leader, The Limerick Post, I Love Limerick and Southern.
