Public Engagement Event - King's Island Walled Town Framework

Thursday 15th August from 2pm - 7pm

Limerick City and County Council is hosting a public engagement event to get your views on the future of King’s Island and the enhancement of the King’s Island Walled Town Framework.

Limerick City and County Council has secured funding through THRIVE Strand 1 – the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme which will be used to enhance the existing King’s Island Walled Town Framework. The King’s Island Walled Town Framework serves as a guidance for the transformation of this strategically significant area in Limerick City. Designed to guide and stimulate future investment, this document identifies priority projects and plans, key urban spaces, streetscape enhancements, and the public realm’s role in emphasising a sense of place in King’s Island, specifically focusing on Nicholas Street.

As part of this process, Limerick City and County Council is hosting a public engagement event to get your views on the future of King’s Island and the enhancement of the King’s Island Walled Town Framework. The Framework seeks to identify key sites on King’s Island that are vacant or underutilised and to establish new uses for them which will generate employment and drive footfall.

Discover Limerick DAC will also be present on the day as they prepare a strategic masterplan for King John’s Castle. The King John's Castle Masterplan aims to increase the value of the Castle as a significant heritage site that will attract a larger diverse audience which will deliver cultural and economic benefits for both Limerick and the Wild Atlantic Way region.
