Information Event: Expanded Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

Limerick City and County Council is inviting property owners, prospective purchasers, and members of the public with an interest in vacant or derelict buildings to a series of information events to learn more about the range of supports and grants available to bring commercial properties back into active use, thus supporting city, town and village regeneration.

Limerick City and County Council will promote awareness of available supports, including:

  • Expert Advice Grant -professional advice to convert above the shop/former commercial/public-use buildings to residential 
  • Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant (Croí Cónaithe)
  • Enhanced supports for derelict properties on the Derelict Sites Register
  • Vacant Above the Shop and full commercial conversion-to-residential supports
  • Guidance on planning, building control, fire safety and conservation requirements
  • Advice on routes to reuse vacant commercial and residential buildings

These drop-in events will allow property owners to engage directly with Council staff in relation to services such as planning, property, fire and building control and economy  to receive practical guidance on reactivating vacant properties and under‑utilised buildings for new uses. 

The promotion of the new vacant property grants will highlight the availability of substantial refurbishment supports to assist owners in bringing long-term vacant and derelict buildings back into use as homes, including where properties require extensive works or professional advice.
